two satelites of same mass are revolving round the earth at different distances from the earth.will the moment of inertia of the two satelites remain the same?explain with reasons.

moment of inertia = I = Mr2

let radius of  two satelites are  r1 , r2 respectively        ( r2>r1 )

for first particle , I1 = Mr12            .......1

for second particle , I2 = Mr22     ......2

divide 1 by  2

I1/I2 = (r1/r2)2            r1/r2 < 1   so

I1/I2 < 1

I1 < I2

therefore , moment of inertia will be different...
