 Mg - T = Ma       ........1

at m

 T - mg = ma            ........2

from 1& 2

T = Mmg/(m+M)            (tension in each string)

tension in the sting which is suspended in theceiling(T1) = 2T = 2Mmg/(M+m)

  = 2mMg/(m+M) 

 =2mg/(1+m/M)  

now m/M <<<<1 so 1+m/M = 1

now T1 becomes T1 = 2mg
