Dear kaushik , (a) AS we increase the angle the force of gravity along the incline i.e mgsinθ increases and the normal component to the plane mgcosθ decreases . SO , the maximum angl is reached when the downward force equals the maximum friction force. so , mgsinθ = µmgcosθ so maximum angle is θ = tan-1 (µ) = tan-1 (.3) = 16.7 deg b) when the angle is lesser than the maximum value the force of friction equals the downward push due to gravity , mgsinθ/2 Please feel free to ask your queries here. Dear kaushik ,
(a) AS we increase the angle the force of gravity along the incline i.e mgsinθ increases and the normal component to the plane mgcosθ decreases . SO , the maximum angl is reached when the downward force equals the maximum friction force.
so , mgsinθ = µmgcosθ
so maximum angle is θ = tan-1 (µ) = tan-1 (.3) = 16.7 deg
b) when the angle is lesser than the maximum value the force of friction equals the downward push due to gravity , mgsinθ/2
