A ball is dropped from a height of 10m above a point 'A' on a fixed inclined plane inclined at an angle of 30 degrees upwards with the horizontal. If the coefficient of restitution is 1/root over 3, and if the ball hits the plane again at a point 'B', determine the distance AB and the time between collisions.

Hi,

Assume point A to be origin and x axis to be along the plane and y axis to be perpendiular to the plane.
Find the velocities of ball at A in both x and y directions after collision (multiply velocity in y direction by coeff of restitution and change its direction to get the same after collision) and then resolve acceleration due to gravity in both x and y directions.
Apply equations of motion in both x and y direction and use the condition that “displacement in y direction at point B would be zero” to calculate the time taken for second collision and use this time to calculate AB ( in x direction.)
