The direction of friction on the tyres of cycle is same or different?Why?.Please answer this question

Dear Nitin,
On the rear wheel , velocity of the point of contact of tyre and ground move backward so friction is in forward direction .
On front wheel paddling causes translation motion of the entire cycle so friction acts in backward direction.

Still I can't understand why the friction is backwards in case of front tyre.I can understand only the rear tyre case.
Please help me.
