A ring ( mass 2g) is roatating about ins axis with an angular velocity of ∏ rad/s . Two body of equal masses ( 5g ) are fixed at the two end points of a diameter. Now what will be the angular velocity of the ring?
Thanking you in anticipation.
Hi
In these type of questions use conservation of angular momentum about axis of rotation
For ring I = MR2
use
I1w1 = I2 w2 where M = 2g and m = 5g
=> MR2 ∏ = (MR2 + 2mR2) w
=> 2∏ = (2+2*5)w
=> w = 2∏/12 = ∏/6 rad/sec
