General category students cannot be older than 25 years while SC, ST and PwD candidates cannot be older than 30 years on October 1 of the year of JEE exam. Students should have five subjects in Class XII board exams including Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Only students in Top 20 percentile of their boards are eligible to appear for IIT entrance exam. Until now, students had to be in Top 1,50,000 rank holders in JEE Main merit list but from next year, changes are expected as only one entrance exam will be held for IITs and other engineering colleges Same criteria is for IIT madras
