kvpy and jee have the nearly same set of syllabus , the thing is that in jee adv the ques was of higher level of kvpy . 
and u must have to strong your skill in maths as for jee maths is vital , its the scoring subject alongwith chemistry where if u knows the formula and way to solve a problem then u can do it , in physics , u might loose some marks due to unit conversion , but maths dnt have that . 
AND 1 MORE THING – DNT GO FOR THEORY IN MATHS AND PHYSICS , as far as jee is concerned , only chemistry , they will ask theory ques .
