my son has got 6589 rank in iit advanced.he may get mineral engineering or environmental engineering in ism dhanbad.he has a chance to get biotechnology in iit gowhati.

is ism dhanbad as good as other iits?

is it possible to change streams once you get in iit at the end of first year?

is it better to enter iit in any stream and take your chance at the end of first year

or better to drop one year to get better rank

if u are worried abt placements than minrel and env in ism dhanbad is better .but considering future prospects, if he is intrested in further study then all the three branches have immense scope but still biotech is liitle better. if u are thinking abt branch change then take any branch which has large number no students as generally elgiblity for branch change stand at 10% of total stength of that particular branch.

however i will still say dropping is a better idea as u never know abt branch chane,so atleast u should go good branch if not college.
