As one goes through the data of admissions in IITS, one finds that students from general category prefer chemical engineering over civil engineering but the case is opposite for SC students although they could have got chemical engineeing as per the opening & closing ranks available on the net....WHY....???? kindly elaborate.....

Chemical engineering has less work load and more job opportunities as compoared to chemical.

But some people prefer to choose civil because there are various govt jobs for civil engineers which arent there for chemical engineers.

So thoes guys are targetting govt jobs.

This is just a general trend observed. Please do not generalize. There may have been some other reasons as well.
