sir what is placement scope in b.tech industrial and production engineering at iit roorkee.what package can be expected if i perform fairly good i.e. CGPA~8.5;

also is placement scope more than metallurgical at iit kanpur

Students at IIT Kanpur - Metallurgy prefer research and M-Tech as their career option, so no comparison here.

Packages are not dependent on CGPA, please clear this misconception. People who are good at brains and are fast learning people are preferred over CGPA, Few companied do not allow students over 9.0 to avail themselves for interview. U surely need to be good at knowledge rather than you CGPA to get a placement. 

Industrial ANd Production engineering at IIT roorkee fetches less placements on overall package point of view.
