Two bar magnet are placed close to each other with their opposite poles facing each other. In the absence of other forces the magnets are pulled towards each other and their kinetic energy increases. Does it contradict our knowledge that magnetic force cannot do any work

To take this two magnets in a situation that they can attract each other, external agent has to do work. this work is stored in the form of potential energy by virtue of which the above case happened.
