SNOW rule states that if the current is flowing in an electric circuit from South to North direction and a magnetic compass is placed Over the conducting wire, the needle of the compass deflects in the direction of west.BUT HOW?By applying Right Hand thumb rule, the direction of magnetic field produced by a current flowing from south to north direction is as follows :-1. Over the conductor, it is from west to east2. Below the conductor it is from east to west So, when we place a magnetic compass over the conducting wire, deflection of needle should be in the direction of east as by line no.(1), which contradicts the SNOW rule. Please explain.
SNOW rule states that if the current is flowing in an electric circuit from South to North direction and a magnetic compass is placed Over the conducting wire, the needle of the compass deflects in the direction of west.
BUT HOW?
By applying Right Hand thumb rule, the direction of magnetic field produced by a current flowing from south to north direction is as follows :-
1. Over the conductor, it is from west to east
2. Below the conductor it is from east to west
So, when we place a magnetic compass over the conducting wire, deflection of needle should be in the direction of east as by line no.(1), which contradicts the SNOW rule.
