On poles magnetic compass doesn`t works and we have to use dip circle.. sir cant we place that magnetic compass verically and use it.. will it give correct data then.. if not why??

magnetic compass needle shows direction of pole . and if compass is placed vertically at pole then it will not show any direction , because the direction of needle is in the direction of magnetic field and magnetic field lines never goes in pole vertically , near the pole the direction of magnetic field is just like sharp curve so you will not get any direction at pole in magnetic compass..
