Answer=6
First of all I want to notify you that I got the answer by hit n trial method...
As we know no. of match played by a single player = 7
Let player at Ist rank  win all his match and score point 7
then 2nd rank player win all his match except one and score point 6
similarily 3rd rank player score 5
 4th score 4
5th score 3
6th score 2
7th score 1
8th score 0
 
Now  we can see that  6 = 3+2 +1+0
