Hello student, please find answer to your question,
Yes, you can find the maxima/minima of a function at the end points of the given interval.
This all depend on the function.
If the function is monotonically increasing or decreasing, then maxima/minima of the function will be at the end points of the interval.
For example, f(x) = x, interval is [-2, 5]
f(x) is monotonically increasing function.
Maxima of f(x) will be at x = 5 & minima will be at x = -2.
