A lady asks a question to a mathematician when they are travelling in plane that he have to tell the age of her three daughters with the help of given clues: 1-the product of the ages of her daughter is 36. 2-the sum of the ages of three daughter is the seat no of mathematician. 3-the colour of the eyes of her youngest daughter is blue. Now tell the answer PLS EXPLAIN!!!!!!!!!
STEP1: find the all sets of 3nos whose product is 36.
they are as follows: (36,1,1) (18,2,1) (12,3,1) (9,2,2) (9,4,1) (6,6,1) (6,3,2) (4,3,3)
STEP2: now, the mathematician obviously knows his seat no. so he knows the sum of the ages of the 3 daughters. But the fact that he is unable to tell their ages after the second clue implies that there must be 1 or more than 1 set whose sum will come out to be the same and i.e when the sum is 13[ it can be either(9,2,2) or (6,6,1)]
STEP3: so the mathematician gets the third clue from the word" youngest daughter" which means it cant be(9,2,2) so therefore the ages of the daughters are 6,6 and 1.
