Area of an ellipse is....pie × a × b...Here a can be either semi major or semi minor axis ..formula is same....Circle is also an ellipse with a = b....Now area of circle is pie × r^2...Here in case of a circle....a= b= r...

Formula for area of ellipse = \Pi x (length of semi-major axis) x (length of semi-minor axis) = \Pi ab    sq.units
