There is no trick!

For you to get a hang on which substitution to use where the only thing can help you is practice. The more you practice the more you get the intuition.

The basis of this intuition is “What would make my integral simpler”, usually substituting differential form helps but it’s not fixed.

Practice is must in integral, and NO do not differentiate the options when you are practicing (in exams maybe but not in practice)
