Q : The area bounded by the curve y=x^3, the X- axis and ordinates x=-2 and x= 1 is ??

area is :

integral frm -2 to 0 of -x3 + integral frm 0 to 1 of x3 

4 + 1/4

Area enclosed: 17/4 sq. units

Hi,

First find the definite Integral of x^3dx from x=-2 to x= 0

Take its absolute value andthen find

the definite integral of x^3dx from x=0 to x= 1

Add both values to get the total area.
