When the cell is in use
cathode reaction: PbO2 + SO42- 4H+ + 2e- -------------- PbSO4 + 2H2O
anode reaction: Pb + SO42- ------------- PbSO4 + 2e-
over all reaction: Pb + PbO2 + 2H2SO4 ------------- 2PbSO4 + 2H2O
