Dear Jyoti
The atomic radii of the transition elements in any series are not much different from each other. As a result, they can very easily replace each other in the lattice and form solid solutions over an appreciable composition range. Such solid solutions are called alloys.

Dear Jyoti there is an another important point related to it which is that the radii of the elements which ate involved in the formation of alloy is not more than 15%.

Jyoti. If the two or more metals have radii only with a difference of 10 to15 percent with each other.,those meatls will form alloys.
And alloys are even divided in two types,1) Ferrous, 2)Non Ferrous depending upon whether they have iron in that alloy. Example:- Zn-Hg (Zinc Amalgam)
