Zinc,Cadmium and mercury all three are group 12 elements which belong to the d-block of the periodic table.All these three elements formed oxides either by direct combination with oxygen and element or by heating the nitrates.
The thermal stability of the oxides of three follow the order--
ZnO>CdO>HgO.This order is due to the fact that both the ZnO and CdO sublime showing their covalent nature,while HgO does not sublime as it gets decomposed when heated above 400degC.
2HgO -------------------> 2Hg +O2
Thus the thermal stability order follow the above trend.
