Why only tetrahalides are used as fluorinating agents why not hexahalides and dihalides??????????

Lets take eg of tetra flourides. Tetra flourides act as strong flourinating agents. They act as both Lewis acid and Lewis base. With increase in eletronegativity of halogens, the acidic character increases. Also they are more easily hydrolysed by water than hexaflouride.
