why is electron affinity of chlorine is more than that of flourine

Orbitals in fluorine are much more closely arranged than in chlorine. Due to this reason incoming electron in fluorine will experience repulsion due to electrons which are arranged closely around the nucleus of fluorine. Hence fluorine has less electron affinity than chlorine
