Approved Tutor Answer9 Years agoSolid BeCl2 performs back bonding... ie It dimerises to Be2Cl6 by back bonding.. Hope U like it........

No.. Alone BeCl2 can`t perform back bonding alone... I haven`t read that it performs performs back bonding... Hope U like it

May be due to very small size of Be and large size of Cl... The extent of back bonding is very less.. As 2p-3p back bonding can take place... And we know the extent of back bonding is inversely proportional to bond length
