Why doesn't NH3 cause pairing in [Cr(NH3)6]Cl3?
Being a strong field ligand,is it not supposed to cause pairing?

Cr3+ e- combo

Ar 3d3.

Hence there cant be even electron pairing of ligands, because, the 3d3 makes sure that there are two unfilled orbitals remaining. The pairing takes place for a strong ligand, only when the metal atom has 5+ electrons, so that it can pair e- acc to Pauli’s exclusion principle
