The sigma bond is formed by overlapping of s-s , s-pz or pz-pz .

Sigma bond is a covalent bond which is formed by head on overlapping of two atomic orbitals.
There can be only one sigma bond in a particular atom in a molecule . But there can be maximum of two pi bonds between the two atoms im a molecule.
