Why caf2 is added in hall heroult process what is its role??

Dear student
CaF2 act as cryolite in hall heroult process.
Cryolite lowers the melting point of the ore and make it more
conductive in nature so as to carry out electrolysis of the ore in
Hall- Heroult process.
