thallium having +1 oxidation state in group 13 elements and its compounds are often highly toxic. Contact with skin is dangerous, and adequate ventilation should be provided when melting this metal.

IN thallium and indium  +1 and +3 oxidation states possible but thallium   in +1 oxidation state compounds are very stronger than +3 oxidation state compounds  In indium +3 oxidation state compounds are very stronger than +1 oxidation state compounds thallium +3 oxidation compounds are highly oxidizing compounds This type of variations are possible due to inert pair effect
