NCERT books are very good for preparation of competitive exams.You can move on your preparation step by step through the way the syllabus is given.Class notes will help you. But for jee mains and jee advanced you have to make extra effort.So take some good books for the preparation of both.Such books provide you the entire range of questions which asked in such exams,by which you will understand the different types of questions.J.D.Lee,O.P.Tandon are good options.All the best.
