Dear student, The Theory of Electrolytic Dissociation-Nature of the Evidence. The theory was first published in 1887 by Svante Arrhenius andsuggests that when an acid, base, or salt is dissolved in water it splits up, or dissociates, spontaneously into positively and negatively charged ions .
