the symbol psi is called as wavefunction . , which besically describes the wave charecteristics of particle . 
whereas the square of psi is used to find the probability of finding a particle described by a specific wave function at a given point .

- this sybol represents the wavefunction.
- which describes the characterstics of  a wave particle.
 
2.The sumbol psi square:-
- this symbol represents the orbital.
- orbital is a region around the nucleus that has the maximum probability to find the electrons.
