Ionic character is deleted to metalic character.since metallic character increases down agroup and decreases across a period. Carbonates and oxides of Gr.1 elememet is more ionic than corresponding element of Gr2. And thereforecabonates and oxides of Gr1 elements are more thermally stable as compared to corresponding elements of Gr2
