Dear Student,
Iodine has 7 electrons and I-has 8 electrons, i.e, 4 solitary sets. Since 2 CN particles are fortified, three solitary sets are still cleared out. In this way, the hybridization is sp3d. sp3d takes the structure of triangular bipyramidal. The solitary sets take the spots on the triangle and subsequently the structure is straight.
Cheers!!
