Approved Tutor Answer9 Years agoWhen a molecule cannot be completely represtent by lewis structure but its characteristics prperties can be described by two or more structures is known to be resonance. It is applied when every surrounding atom is the same but some atoms are double bond, and some are coordinate. Hence the pi bond shared among all the atoms and hence forms resonance. Ex. Benzene( C6H6 ).
