What is optically active and inactive compound?? What is chiral centre?? What is optically active and inactive compound?? What is chiral centre??
@ simranChiral centers are tetrahedral atoms (usually carbons) that have four different substituents. Each chiral center in a molecule will be either R or S. As noted above, molecules with a single chiral center are chiral. Molecules with more than one chiral center are usually chiral. The exception are meso-compounds..The compound which rotates the plane polarised light either in clockwise or anticlockwise direction , are known as optically active . and the same is opposite for optically inactive . the compound which cannot rotate the plane polarised light is called as optically inactive .
