In an octahederal entity,there is repulsion between the electrons in metal s orbital & electrons of ligand.This repulsion results in splitting of degenerate d orbital. The dx2-y2 &dz2 orbital experience more repulsion as they r directed along the axis & hence Will be raised in energy. The dxy, dxz, dyz will be lowered in energy. This degeneracy results in t2g & eg levels with t2g having dxy, dyz ,dxz & eg having dx2-y2 & dz2In inner complexes inner d orbitals r used.In outer complexes, outer d orbital r used.Hope this helps.😊

: In the Crystal Field Theory, when the part of the d-orbital happens, it 
gets separated into two sections... The upper part with higher Energy is 
the t2g and the lower part with lower Energy is known as the eg as in 
Internal circle complex is a kind of surface complex. Arrangement of inward 
circle edifices happens when particles tie specifically to the surface with no 
interceding water particles. These sorts of surface buildings are 
confined to particles that have a high partiality for surface destinations and incorporate 
particularly adsorbed particles that can tie to the surface through covalent 
holding.
