An inductive effect is an electronic effect due to the polarisation of σ bonds within a molecule or ion. This is typically due to an electronegatvity difference between the atoms at either end of the bond.
this is typically due to electronegativity diffrence betwen the atoms at the either end of the bonds .
the more elctronegative atom will pull the electron in the bond towards itself , creating some bond polarity .
example –
O-H AND C-CL BOND .
hope it clears now
all the best ..
