What is a cluster compound ?? Why it is called so??

A metal cluster compound is one in which metal atoms are linked directly to one another.
A simple example is the ion Hg 2 2+, in which two mercury (Hg) ions are linked together.
it is called as cluster beacuse two or more ions will form a cluster or combine like structure . so, its derived from a latin name .
