                  Order of Reaction:
The sum of powers of concentration terms of the reactants in the rate
law expression is called the order of that chemical reaction. Order of a reaction can be 0, 1, 2,
3 and even a fraction.
In the rate equation rate = K [ A]x [ B] y , order of reaction is x + y
Generally the following methods are used to determine the order of a reaction experimentally
1) Integrated equation method or trial and error method
2) Half-Life method
3) Vant’s-Hoff differential method
4) Ostwald isolation method

                    Molecularity of a Reaction:
The number of reacting species (atoms, ions or molecules) taking part in an elementary
reaction, which must collide simultaneously in order to form products is called molecularity
of the reaction.
Molecularity cannot be zero or a non integer and does not exceed three.
E.g.; unimolecular reaction
NH 4 NO2 → N 2 + 2 H 2O
Bimolecular Reaction: 2 HI ( g ) → H 2( g ) + I 2( g )
Termolecular Reaction: 2 NO( g ) + O2( g ) → 2 NO2( g )

In chemical kinetics, the order of reaction with respect to a given substance (such as reactant, catalyst or product) is defined as the index, or exponent, to which its concentration term in the rate equation is raised.
The molecularity of a reaction is defined as the number of molecules or ions that participate in the rate determining step. A mechanism in which two reacting species combine in the transition state of the rate-determining step is called bimolecular.

Srinivas, the order of reaction is defined as the index, or exponent, to which its concentration term in the rate equation is raised and the sum of powers is called order of reaction.
