There is hardly any increase in atomic size with increasing atomic numbers in a series of transition metals.??

Answer ::

Along a transition series, the nuclear charge increases which tends to decrease the size but the addition of electrons in the penultimate d-subshell increases the screening effect which counter balances the effect of increased nuclear charge. Thus, atomic radius does not change much.
