Superphosphate fertilizers are produced by treatment of "phosphate rock" with acids. Using phosphoric acid, fluorapatite is converted to Ca(H2PO4)2:

+ HF2)4PO2 → 5 Ca(H4PO3F + 7 H3)4(PO5Ca
