Silica is added to sulphide ore of copper in rreverbertery furnace

In reverberating furnace there is a process in which a roasted ore is formed than we mix it with silica and heating strongly in furnace. Silica combine with impurities forming slag but yet we not get pure cooper for it we use Bessemer converter.
