Because of octet rule in stable electronic arrangement, Berilium will make 2+ cation. But because of it's tiny radius it can't handle this charge..
IN CONTRAST TO THAT , carbon have a radius that it can hold 4 electrons in its valence shell , and it do forms the bonding rather than donating and accepting the electrons .
so.due to that reason , berilium is least stable than carbon , (tiny radius )
HOPE IT CLEARS YOUR DOUBT

all the best ..
