Dear student ...If z-axis is the molecular axis, then pi-molecular orbitals are formed by overlap of Px and Py. The orbitals perpendicular to the axis takes part in overlapping for pi-molecular orbitals formation , hence pi bond is formed ....With Regards ....Mahima...(AskIITians Forum Expert )
