H is an element so no formation
H is a non metal
it may form ionic as well as covalent bond

If you are asking about just hydrogen atom then it is neither ionic nor covalent. Yes but it is a non metal. 
Hydrogen molecule H2 is a covalent molecule. But hydrogen can also form ionic compounds in form of halides!
