Molecular orbitals formed from p orbitals are more complex since each p orbital contains separate regions with opposite signs of the wave function. When two orbitals
overlap, and the overlapping region have the same sign, the sum of the two orbitals has an increased electron probability in the overlap region. When two regions of opposite sign
overlap, thecombination has a decreased electron probability in the overlap region.
In the above case of diatomic molecule since X-axis is the molecular axis, than pi-molecular orbital will be formed by overlap of Py and Pz orbitals which will form pi-bonding as well as pi-antibonding orbitals respectively and Px orbital will lead to formation of sigma bonding and sigma antibonding orbitals in such case.
