how to find the type of hybridisation in coord cmpnds based on ligands and the charge of metal ion?

let us take an example:-[ PtCl4​]
it can be done two methods
  • VALENCE BOND THEORY
  • CRYSTAL FEILD THEORY 
According to valence bond theory, 
  1. First write its outer most electronic configuration
  2. And see whether ligand is strong field ligand or not
  3. If strong field ligand pairing of electrons takes places and the procedures valence bond theory as in CHEMICAL  BONDING.
