Hi Sir/Ma’am. I’m confused about the use of flux in metallurgy. Can you please help me out!
Is flux used to remove impurities from an ore or is it used to remove only silica and undesirable metal oxide??
Thanks in advance!

@ meghna
in metallurgy flux is a chemical cleaning, flowing or purifying agent .
fluxes have more than one function at a time ,
they are used in both extractive mettalurgy and metal joining .
when the flux is heated with ore , it combines with the earthly impurities and forms a fusible mass known as slag .
slag is lighter metal and can be easily removed from the surface of molten metal .
there is two typoes of flux .
1- acidic flux
2- besic flux .
